When A Hotel Beats A Lounge At SHA
At Hongqiao, a hotel starts beating a lounge earlier than many travelers expect. The airport is much closer to the city than Pudong, so a long wait is often better solved either by leaving the airport properly or by booking a nearby room rather than trying to stretch a limited lounge lineup into a full layover plan. Shanghai Airport announced on December 30, 2024 that the Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport had opened and was directly connected to Terminal 1, while Hilton's own page says the hotel is located at Hongqiao Airport Terminal 1 and about a five-minute walk to the nearest subway station.
