The new Hilton Istanbul Airport is a walk from the terminal. Other hotels are in Arnavutköy, a drive away, so check how you will get there before you book.

This guide covers Istanbul Airport (IST), the main airport on the European side. Sabiha Gökçen (SAW), on the Asian side, has its own nearby hotels.

YOTELAIR Istanbul Airport (Airside)

Stay in the transit zone after an international flight and don't go through passport control. The hotel is inside the Duty Free area, opposite the iGA Lounge entrance.

Has 280 of YOTEL's cabins, including solo Sleep Cabins with shared showers for a quick rest. Rooms can be booked by the hour, from four hours, between 4am and 11:59pm. You need a boarding pass for an onward international flight, and checked bags stay checked through.

Landside, for everyone

YOTEL Istanbul Airport (Landside)

On the Departures floor before security and passport control, opposite the check-in area. Arriving passengers clear passport control and collect their bags first.

Has 171 soundproofed cabins, a 24-hour gym and the Komyuniti bar and restaurant. It is open to anyone entering the airport from the city, and transit passengers need to be able to enter Turkey, with a visa if their nationality needs one.

Best for: Best for: Early departures, late arrivals, and domestic connections where you need your luggage.

Getting from the terminal to your hotel

Step 1
To YOTELAIR (airside)
After an international flight, stay in the transit zone and don't go through passport control. Follow the signs for YOTELAIR in the Duty Free area, opposite the iGA Lounge.
Step 2
To YOTEL (landside)
Clear passport control, collect your bags and go up to the Departures floor. The hotel is before security, opposite the check-in area.
Step 3
To Arnavutköy and the city
The M11 metro runs from the airport to Gayrettepe in the city, and west to Arnavutköy and Halkalı. For Arnavutköy hotels, a taxi or a transfer booked with the hotel is simplest.

Istanbul Airport (IST) is impressively modern but inconveniently far—about 40km from the city center. During rush hour, the drive to Sultanahmet or Taksim can take 90+ minutes. For travelers with early morning departures (common for connections to Asia/Middle East) or late arrivals, staying near the airport makes sense.

The area around IST is still developing, with limited hotel options compared to the old Atatürk Airport zone. The Yotel inside the terminal is the standout choice for transit passengers—you can book by the hour and stay airside without clearing immigration. For landside options, there are a few international chains within 10-15 minutes by shuttle.

Istanbul is a major Turkish Airlines hub, making it a common layover point. If you have 8+ hours between flights, it's worth heading into the city. But for shorter connections or exhausted travelers, staying near IST is the practical choice.
